I met with my doctor to discuss how far I have progressed. Overall, the doctor was impressed with how I was able to move my shoulder. I am no longer wearing a sling and I feel much better each day. Yesterday, I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill and did some leg exercises. This is the first time that I have worked out in months. Before my surgury, I stopped lifting to prevent further damage to the shoulde. I just wanted to be careful because I did not know what was wrong at the time. I experience no pain with day to day movements. This is a good thing. I am so happy that I can finally do things with people's assistance. I think I was driving my girlfriend crazy during this process. |

I had my surgery on Thursday, December 14th. I don't remember much about he procedure other than it was cold as heck in the operating room. I woke up with a sore throat and no feeling in my arm. The first couple of nights it was tough to sleep. The doctor prescribed some Vicodin that helped ease the pain but its was still tough to sleep. If you don't sleep with your upper body elevated the pain may become unbearable. I used a ice machine for the first couple of days to help with the swelling. Each day the pain seems to ease and I am more confortable operating in the sling. Also, I have went from taking 5 Vicodin pills a day to 2 pills a day. I am not a fan of pain relievers because of all the side effects but definetly take them if you are in pain. |
