Thanks again for both your replies. This information is extremely helpful.

sskylor, did you have surgery and if so, were you able to return to around 100%?

As for my tears, I think they preceded my strength training. As embarrassing as it is, I think it might have been foolishly arm wrestling that did it, and if that is true, it happened around 3 years ago. I actually don't find that it typically bothers me when lifting, unless doing bench press (especially incline). Well, and throwing anything isn't what it use to be. Shoulder presses, dips, deadlifts, cleans, etc never really seemed effected. That said, it's very possible that the tears have gotten worse since I've started training. I'm not sure. i do find the whole shoulder unit seems a lot more sore as time progresses (as opposed to the pin-point RTC tear I can point to).

Slap tears typically will get worse really with more pain and weakness in terms of function over time. Yes I did have surgery now 16 months post op and the repair is solid. I was back playing tennis at 6 months for a start but have been plagued by numerous tendon issues. The bicep is the one I believe is most concerning as it relates to SLAP tears. Some OS routinely perform tenodesis for overhead athletes that are over 40. I believe depending on what you want to return to this is worth disscusing with the OS, to avoid a potential second surgery. Opinions are still varied on the best route to take but I believe this together with PRP injections with SLAP surgeries will improve outcomes across the board. Sharon
