day 5 post-op...ouch! 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 2
i want to apologize first for not using the right punctuation and caps...it's hard w/ one hand. thankfully i have my little helper monkey (daughter) and understanding wife as well. being day 5, pain is moderate. the one thing that does suck is the immobilized sling. the kidney-shaped pillow thingie that is between my stomach and slinged arm is just plain wrong. 1st post-op appt was today. i thought the doc was going to say you can lose the buffer part. nope. but i did get the physical therapist appt instead. lovely, i'm gonna love this guy. thanks for all your support and tips.

sincerely,
hurtin' in California

HEY!! Good to hear from you as we (Michael and I) have been thinking about you since your surgery. I know I have been wondering how well you did. Michael didn't have any wedge between his arm and the sling, seems like some have them and some don't. Glad to know you are doing ok!! We have kept the ice on him a couple times a day and that really seems to help him. He has really begun to stop the vicodin, maybe only 1-2 per day and definitely before PT. He had his first PT yesterday, so they have started the ROM activities. Were they able to fix your tear with just 2 anchors? Again, glad to hear from you and know you are doing OK. Keep us posted!!

the ortho doc said today that when he actually got in the shoulder he had a situation. two different types of surgery with two different recovery types. one he did needed the wedge (actually a 4 inch kidney-shaped wedge) immobilized for at least 4 weeks. the other one he did I'm supposed to move it around shortly after surgery. so for now I'm married to the kidney then deal with no movement in PT. to answer your question, he threw in 3 anchors. i have some nice digital pics he sent home with me. it's for my collection along with my 2 level fusion (rods and screws) x-rays. hopefully my typing skills will improve tomorrow I'm down to 3 Norcos from 4...still can't get the Xbox controller down pat!!
