You guys are Awesome! I wouldnt have ever thought about takin button up PJs to the hospital with me!! ANd the tube tops! Im so glad yall mentioned that! I was wondering about those two things! I will def. be able to live out of PJs for the week of Thanksgiving!!

When I get back to school I will only have one more week of class and then final week, so I shouldnt have to carry to much stuff, nothing I cant carry in my left arm, so I should be okay! its just the writing part that is going to be a toughy!! I dont know how im going to get through finals but Im sure my teachers are going to be more than willing to help me through it.

Luckily I have a nice enough roommate who has agreed to help brush out my hair and fix it! So I might not have to cut my hair which makes me happy!! =]

And yes I do believe that Im getting a nerve block. My doctor has been talking to my dad alot right now and since Im a college its hard to get ahold of him, espeically with a broken phone, but im pretty sure I will be getting the block. Im hoping the hospital stay wont be as bad as Im thinking it is going to be!! Im sure it will all work out! Im just ready to get the surgery over with!! =]

I just wanted to let you know that I ordered four of the tube tops from www.tubetops.com and I really think it will help. I have practiced stepping into them and doesn't seem too difficult. And I have borrowed a few large button up shirts that someone had suggested to wear over the tube top. I hope all goes well with you! Hope you have a good Thanksgiving, or at least as good to be expected!

I found these great tanktops over the summer at Old Navy that tie at the top. They were perfect and I lived in the three of them for the first two weeks after surgery. They may still have them in the bargain section but I haven't checked. I'm three weeks two days post op and I still can't get a sleeved shirt on because it is too hard to take off. I was able to brush my hair within a week of surgery though so if you can deal with it being jacked for a few dyas don't get it cut. You won't be able to pull it back without help though which was really hard for me because I can't stand mine in my face. The other two things I found grossly hard to do was tie my shoes and dental floss. I still need help with my right shoe lace but have been tying the left for about a week now. I could write fairly decent by week two as well. Just hard to find a comfy position for the elbow. The thing that I think would be the hardest about going to class is how tired you get from the meds and the after affects of anesthesia. I was so worn out for the three weeks after surgery and to some extent I still am. Just take lots of naps in between classes. Good luck and let us know what they find.

athompson,
You're going to be fine. I'm only a week and half out and can confidently tell you it's not that bad. The nerve block will be your best friend. It makes the first day so much easier and you will be very thanful for it.
I will kepp you in my prayers tonight and tomorrow. Hang in there and just know this means you'll be one step closer to playing pain free tennis.
Keep us posted as soon as you're able.
Katherine

You know I almost posted the day you played tennis, knowing that because you did not have much pain you would consider canceling.
I did cancel my first surgery and less than 10 days later, I was feeling weak and painful. The timing is right for you now, so relax and know you will be shortly on the mend. Sharon
