I generally consider TENS units for pain control and more so when the patient has chronic pain and is looking for an alternative to pain meds. Many TENS units are the small portable home type ones and anyone can easily purchase and own one. Try one at your therapy office first to see if you want or need one at home.
You are about a month out of surgery am I correct? You will have pain although at this stage it should vary but in another few weeks should begin to wane until the next phase of rehab, without any TENS help. I like the idea of a portable Russian muscle stim
unit as with this unit at least you are working to strengthen the muscles.

I have one that I use every night and I think it helps. My PT starts off each session with a treatment and said I should be doing it at home as well.
