haven't started pt yet.. 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Im 7 weeks post op and have yet to start PT. The doc is worried about the stabilty of my shoulder. Im worried about my strength on the other hand. My arm is completely wasted away and so is the top of my trap. Has anyone else started PT really late and did everything work out fine for them?

I am 18wks. post op. and I started PT at 10 wks. I did things at home that the OS perscriped. Some OS are very aggressive in treatment, some are not. When I started PT I really struggled. The past 2wks. have been great. I can see and feel a big difference. I started using Kinesio tape. My PT really likes using it. This is the first time since the surgery that I feel great. Good Luck. Talk with your OS and ask why such a late start. I wish I did.

You should be able to begin isometric strengthening exercises, that is if you OS is still concerned about the stability/overrange issue. You need to call and ask him to start. You will get there, but it will be a long road and like Nadine stated you may need some help with Kinesio tape to get you back at a functional level sooner. What will you be trying to return to sports or otherwise?

I itching to get back to lifting weights, running and playing basketball. I also really want to be able to throw the football around, but I know thats far off from the other things. I just really hope I can run and workout lightly in August but its not lookin so good.

I started PT at week 6. Saw some huge improvements fairly quickly. Then I asked if I could start working some light weights in and he said "NO!". Guess I was getting a little ahead of myself. It's just that I can see that my arms have gotten smaller and I'm so ready to start building muscle again. But all I can do it wait for the ok, which may be another few months away.
