Frozen shoulder?...thaw me out!!! 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 2
Get the blow-torch man, it's frozen...I think. Being 20 days post-op, I have a few PT sessions under my belt. My question is this: Does anyone else have the ROM issue of not being able to "put my hand in my back pocket" (left hand in left back pocket). I can do every other ROM-type motion with moderate pain but cannot do the pulley one with hand behind back. My biggest fear is he has to go back in to cut scar tissue or something. Only 10 days left doing the "gunslinger" sling. Whoohoo!! Thanks guys.

Twenty days, man your way tooooo worried! Sounds like you may be ahead of the curve in most ways. What does your PT or OS say? I DO have frozen should, 6 months post surgery, and am slowing improving.

That motion (internal rotation) is often one of the last motions to come back.

You're only 3 weeks post-op. No worries yet! You'll get there.

My PT man (many other words come to mind to describe him ) says it's good right now. He said I gained an inch higher. I do worry as you can see with some of my very first posts! Some of the stories here do the same. It's good to know it is one of the last ones to get back. My wife and I took my arm out today of sling and compared with right-side one. Definately different. Either I bulked up the non-injured forearm or lost some in the left side. I do notice not having the pain I had before surgery, now it's pain from surgery. MUST GET BETTER...

You are doing fine, especially if you aren't out of the sling yet. My PT folks dropped the ball completely and I hadn't moved the arm at all except for pendulums for six weeks after surgery. I had to get a bit aggressive after that, but I can get my arm behind my back (helps that I have to clasp a bra every day so I work that stretch). You'll get the back thing quickly. If you haven't tried this.... Reach with your other arm first and note how it moves the shoulder to get there. Then mimic it with the stiff side. I found my first attempts were pathetic because I wasn't moving the shoulder back to make the reach. Your mileage may vary.... Good luck!
