When can I ... ? 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 3
6 weeks post-op, and OS said that now I can use my arm "ad lib", just no swingin' baseball bats. I have been out of the sling for 2 weeks, but I was previously supposed to keep the elbow near the side of my body.

So I decided to try (finally) putting on a t-shirt, instead of the button-down shirts I have been wearing since the surgery (even to the gym). I had to bend over to put it on, and getting it off again was really difficult!!!

So now my question to people with more recovery time than me is: When were you able to do normal everyday activities with your operated shoulder, like wearing a t-shirt, washing your other shoulder in the shower, shaking hands, pouring milk into your cereal, etc?

Thanks!
Scott

T-Shirt removal hint.... Assuming you aren't doing this already.... Bend over. Lift good arm over your head/shoulders to back. Grab onto T-shirt on back and pull arm back over head to front. Should bring shirt up and over. I've been wearing T-shirts since I got my arm out of the sling around 6 weeks.

As for other activities, I was doing well by eight weeks despite the fact that I got behind due to a therapy mess up. If you aren't doing them, I highly recommend isometric strengthening exercises to go with the stretches.
