Biceps tenotomy 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi everyone... I had a biceps tenotomy and release of subacromial adhesions last Wednesday, 9/3. Just a little background - on 3/3/08 had subacromial decompression and debridement of partial thickness rotator cuff tear. New MRI in July showed longitudinal tear of biceps tendon, partial thickness rotator cuff tear, and small posterior labral tear.

I was doing really well after my surgery on Wednesday. I only needed the heavy pain meds for a day and started PT on Friday. Then last night I started having some more pain, and for the first time I noticed the famed "Popeye" bulge in my upper arm. Since then, I have had more constant pain and gave in to Vicodin last night, which barely touched it. Today, I've tried to do my home PT excercises, and I have less movement with more pain, sort of a stabbing, spasm-like pain.

Has anyone had a tenotomy that can give me some insight into what this recovery will be like? From what I've been told by the doc and what I've read, it was supposed to be really easy with maybe some cramping or fatigue-like pain in the muscle. But it seems like since the tendon has migrated down into the arm, all bets are off. (Or maybe I'm just being too impatient! )

Much thanks to anyone who can give advice!

Sue
