Bullet, what you are experience is partially the fact that your muscles had a 3.5 to 4.5mm steel rod shoved through them 5 weeks ago but also a co-ordination problem more then anything. When you move under your own power you'll get internal swelling (your muscles haven't been used much) which then puts pressure on your Axillary, Median, Radial nerves which run down your arm. These guys cause all sorts of interesting feelings in the arms. At five weeks, the anchors are pretty much set in there and you now just need to development the muscle strength and coordination to protect the joint. It gets better man, I'm at five weeks too, I think my procedure wasn't as extensive as yours but I can elevate to above shoulder level under my own power. External rotation only two days started to not hurt until I hit the ROM limit. I started doing light wall pushups two day ago as well and yesterday was the worst day since the intial surgery for pain, the whole area was seriously f'up!

Thanks a lot guys, it seems as though what I am experiencing is perfectly normal based on what you guys went through.

The wall pushups activated my rotator cuff too much apparently, my arm is on fire. The stretching PT put me through this mornng almost brought me to tears. It was unbelievably painful!
We're going back to ROM and backing off on the strength...

Morning,

The nerve impingement is gone and I have almost full ROM now. My external rotation might be two weeks away from full, I have a lot of stiffness at the front of my shoulder. Otherwise things are progressing quickly. I start rubber tube exercises today and wall pushups are back on the menu.

Nothing really causes pain, just discomfort. I can reach across my body now which is nice for applying pitstick haha. After I do a lot of movements, some swelling might occur, when it does it puts pressure on my axillary nerve which can cause some weird pain when I reach across my body.

I'm at 6 weeks and it's really starting to come together. There is light at the end of the tunnel...
