I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself, My name is Gina and I am 38 years old and I had surgery for slap II tear with 2 anchors and SAD on May 26 (two weeks ago). First let me say I wish I would have found this website before my surgery. There is great information on here. I had a stupid accident on Jan. 31st 2009 and right away I knew something was wrong. General physican did a regular mri that came back inconclusive. Referred to an OS and he gave me a cortizone shot (that alleviated the pain for 3 days) and ordered 6 weeks of PT. Did PT and got a littlr ROM back but pain and could not sleep at night. Went back to OS who suggested that I had a possible rc tear and that it needed to be fixed. Needless to say I was a little surprised when I found out the verdict after I woke up.
Two days after surgery I stopped taking drugs and on day three I was sleeping back in bed. No pain whatsoever. Went back to work within a week. I got my stitches out of the 5 holes after 1 week. Several of the spots are completely healed and you can hardly tell that they are there. I have started to feel a little discomfort the past few days. I am tired of the immobolizer and I know I have a road ahead of me. I have not started PT yet and go back to the doc next week which is 3 weeks to the day and he said we would discuss then. Its summer and I am anxious to be better, seems like I have been dealing with this for so long anyway. Just a little frustrated but want to keep in the right frame of mind. Thanks to everyone for your stories and information.

Well you have had the best possible first 2 weeks post surgery so congrads. Yes you do have a long road ahead and unless you are very fortunate, it may not be quite like your first 2 easy weeks but I am hoping for you that it is. The only issue with so very little pain is doing too much too soon, so pay particular attention to the post-op protocol and PT to allow the rest of your recovery to go as smooth as your first 2 weeks.

I was getting frustrated the first 4 weeks, because there seemed to be very little improvement. Then weeks 5-6 were huge. I noticed a big difference. Then my first week of PT at week 6 was also another big step up. Most of my range of motion has come back. Just Hang in there for another 3 weeks and things will be a lot better.
