Popping 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 1
Hello thanks fo the good info on my last post. Thanks andy for starting this site it is wonderful and very helpful. The question I now have is im about 3 wks post op. Feeling better every day. Some nights good sleep and others crappy but pain is a lil better every day. Now that the swelling is down I am having lil pops when the shoulder moves a certain way in the sling. Feeling it in two distinct spots 15-20 times a day. I know from this site that it will pop and make noises as I heel just concerned that maybe on of the anchors or sutures is rubbing and I dont want it to catch on something and damage it. I have 6 anchors. Anyone had a problem with something catching and damaging something? Or is it just gonna work itself out as the shoulder heals? Wouldnt be so worried if it wasnt the same two spots. Front top and side top by the deltoid.

I just had surgery 3 weeks ago too. I have some popping as well and it seems to me like its kinda early for that but I think it is scar tissue breaking up unless you are having pain with it and that might be hard to distinquish as you are fresh out of surgery. Andy might know more about it. But I think that is what it is. My doc had told me that two years ago.

Glad all is going well, my pain is starting to ease up as well but in the afternoon it starts kicking in and then I have to take my pain meds.

Glad to see you both are progressing. I am 5 months post op and still have popping in my shoulder. I really get a good pop when doing some of my exercises. Other times it just crunching noises. Like Colleen said as long as you don't have major pain it is ok. The scar tissue takes a long time to break up. From what I understand, as your shoulder starts healing it moves back into place. Each time it moves more scar tissue is rubbing that has to breakup. Every time my shoulder pops, I'm excited because it signifies an improvement.

Yeah I figured it would pop just worried that its in the same two spots. Is this things going into place or one of the anchors or sutures upsetting or rubbing on something in there???

I wouldn't worry unless it is painful when it pops which at that point you might want to tell your doctor. It is probably where the repair was and there is scar tissue and it will break up eventually but it will take awhile. I still have popping in my right shoulder 2 years later. But you want that to pop and break all that scar tissue up, just like what Karen said. It is good for it to do that. Hope this answers your question. I don't think it is hurting anything but you might want to just run it by the doc to be sure.
