calcitic tendonitis and posible slap 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi I found your blog :It is great! I have pain everywhere, but just recently in my left shoulder, The pain a hurting real bad. I went to my orto guy because he fixed my partical tear in Right, roto cuff , 2 years ago,, and it is great, now The best thing I ever did was have surgery. The New person I saw in the office, sent me for a mri and did ex-rays in the office. The person explained to me and showed a calcium stick comming out of my left shoulder. She said it was very painfull and I had calcitic tendonitis. The person wrote on the MRI and PT " possible Slap."I never hear of that till today and I found your site .I got the MRI today. I am to start PT soon. I got a cortazone shot in the office and it did not help the pain at all. In fact the pain is so bad, I want to cry.
The pain is in the front of my shoulder and down my top of my arm, buring and just plain pain, i do have pop sounds too. I know I have a full tear in that side in rotor Cuff but it stopped hurting 2 years ago, with PT . Now the pain is unbearable. and I never heard of SLAP.I have great range of motion. The pain is constant with out movement, I can do most everything with the shoulder but the pain is a 10. Can you tell me anything ?? Why did she not order the dye for the shoulder? If she thinks it is a slap? would the pain be this bad with a slap? Thanks for your time and I am looking foward from hearing from any one. Thanks again for setting up the website YOU ARE a SAINT. Barbara

Barbara,
You have a tear in the rotator cuff? You said you went through physical therapy before and it helped and now it is hurting again. It might be torn more and I have found out that if they don't heal they will get worse and my pain came and went until it came to a point where it never went away. I just had rotator cuff surgery 3 weeks ago and I am glad I did. My pain was there 24/7 for 3 months!! I couldn't take it and many of days I did sit down and just cry. I also was working 7 days a week and how I did that I do not know. Just kept on going as I needed the income. My life was surrounded by pain and it totally consumed my life. The pain you are having is referred pain, if it is a rotator cuff tear. I did not have a slap tear but everyone here has helped me immensly!! This is the most wonderful site I have ever visited. People who actually know what you are going through and that can help you go through this. You are certainly not alone!! By the way cortisone injections didn't work for me either, I had 3 of them and nothing!! I changed doctors and he treated me not the test. My tear didn't even show up on the mri!!!! But he knew something was wrong and he treated my symptoms, I am so glad I found him. Hang in there! We are here for you. Are you going in for surgery???

I want to thank you so much for replying to my message." this is a great place!

I have had rotor cuff surgery a year ago on the other shoulder RT}{right}. I could not agree with you more, surgey went great and I have no more pain. I have great range of motion in that sholder now.

The healing part was great too they gave me this great ice machine that worked out of a cooler.Did they give you that ? I went to PT before and after surgery and they were great too.

I had surgery in Nov and was back at work the last weeks in Dec.

NOW I am in alot of pain Now in the Left shoulder went for MRI on Wednesday result will be in on friday. Now to try to get them lol. I will go for surgery if they say they can help me '' I hate missing work but pain is pain.

Yes, I join a few places for my pain problem before but none were as good as this site. The person who started this site should get a metal. Thank you for being here for me.
If you have any questions about your shoulder been there done that lol
I just don't understand this new pain it is not any worst when i do stuff with the arm it just painfull 24- 7. That is when I read the pt note and noticed the slap mention.on top of Calcium tendontis,The doctor did an xray in the office and showed me that.. deposit sticking out of me shoulder like a pin in the joint Ow hurts to talk about it .
..So what is slap anyway ?? still don't get that.. yes i had a full tear in the left shoulder but as I stated before the pain went away and then the right shoulder partical tear, started to hurt more than the left It was so painfull i went for the surgery ..Now the other shoulder is killing me.The pain is unbearable.

Thanks again if any one has any answers for me about this new problem and slap please please e-mail me thanks again be good and stay out of PAIN>>>

Barbara,
Yes, I got the ice cooler and it was a godsend!! Only wish I would of had it for the other shoulder when that was done. Would of certainly made things alot easier. My last surgery two years ago I was off work for 6 months!!! I had a therapist who got a little overzealous and retore it. That is a surgery you don't want to have twice in 6 weeks time!!! Been there done that one. It sucked the whole time. And to boot the doc didn't think it was retore!! Why on stinkin earth would I say it was retore if I didn't think it was? Hmmmm Doctors sometimes are a pain.
I do understand the pain you are going through right now with it being all the time no matter what you do. That is how it got for me and the doc said I wouldn't of been able to go much longer the way it was. Pain is Pain you are right and hopefully they will take care of this for you. Keep us posted on what your mri results are.
