We did not do any bandage changes at home. At day 3 we went to OS for a check and he removed them and replaced with bandaids. That was all we used after that. (that is, arthoscopically(sp?) speaking).

We did PT twice a week the first month, and started on day 5 post surgery. Some may do 3 times a week, but we wanted to spead them out.

Driving, I think, is pretty individual. If you are only in a sling, try it now with your arm at your side. See what it's like (I thought it was tricky). If you're in one of those imobolizer things, I would think it will take longer. (my son had left arm done and drive at day 13 post op, just to and from work, no freeway.) Drugs will probably play into the decision too. You just won't know until you get there!

Games and typewriter came pretty quick (first full day home). Teeth and toileting, you can probably adapt. Just try some stuff without your arm, then you can get an idea. Then if you have it easy, all the better! My son found he had a lot more ability than he thought he would, but was scared to try stuff cuz of pain, etc. He took it very easy and I think it has paid off. We are now 9 weeks out (I think!) and you wouldn't know anything ever happened, unless you see his shoulder- he reacted to the sutures and still has 2 'red areas' where he was closed up!

I was allowed to remove my dressings 48 hours after surgery. I had butterfly bandages over the incision site. I had to use gauze and waterproof tape to cover incisions. My follow-up visit was a week after surgery. My doc recomended Glad Press and Seal to put over wounds while showering. It works great, make sure your skin is dry when you put it on and don't move that arm very much...not that you will the first few days To be safe I used waterproof tape to tape it down. It is easier if you can have someone put it on for you, then you may not need to tape it down. After the follow-up visit I also used the waterproof badages.

I need to get a SLAP surgery and my shirt issue will be taken care of by taking a t-shirt and cutting a big hole in the side with the bad shoulder aka a muscle shirt.
