My daughter actually liked the peas better because they were not as heavy as the ice padding but I bought one on ebay for 50 dollars and resold it for 50 when I was done with it she only used it for about 4 days however I do think it helps a lot with pain and is much easier as to lasting longer.

I didn't have the ice machine but used and still use an ice pack from Walgreens. Here is the link

Good luck on Friday,

FROZEN PEAS ARE MY FAVORITE!!!!!

I have had impingement surgery and am going in for a SLAP III surgery in a few weeks....... I AM TERRIFIED..

even before my injury, my shoulder popout of joint with the slightest movement (opening windows, folding laundry)...

I am hoping that this will reduce my pain, but even the doctor says this will not 'fix it'

rrrggghhh

Hey Bad Flipper, I just sent you a private message on where I live in regards to the ice machine. I can't believe anyone would even offer something like that. Very awesome indeed. I would "pay it forward" if you want or return it to you. From what I've been reading it seems like people only use the machine for the first 3 days? The "independant contractor ice machine lady" wants to know TODAY about the $80 rental that the doctor ordered. I'd start pulling out my hair but my head is bald (by choice thanks to Nair/razors)!! After pre-op yesterday, they sent me home with these Chlorhexidine Gluconate cloths. I'm supposed to put this sticky stuff on tonight and tomorrow morning before surgery to prevent post-op infection. Anyone heard of these? Thanks for all your help and support. Ron

Hey Ron,
The chlorhexidine gluconate is basically an antibacterial scrub. (I use to be a nurse before I decided to teach middle school science). I am sure your OS is taking extra precautions about getting the site as bacteria free as possible prior to surgery. As you know, they are going into the joint and your skin has a lot of bacteria on it. He is just be very cautious to get the area clean to prevent infection in the shoulder joint and surgical sites. Every doc has their own preference about this. We are at day 3 post op and Michael is still using his iceman when he is sitting in "his" chair and he is sleeping with it on. He is doing very well. I am amazed at how well he is doing actually. He is only taking one vicodin about every 5-6 hours now and only took one last night and slept from midnight to 9. Good luck tomorrow!! Kim (Mikes Mom)

Yeah, that scrub stuff just sounds nasty. I'm very particular about my nightly routine to get to sleep. This stuff will throw a wrench in it My wife makes a good point though, sleep will not be on my mind tonight. We ran around town today to find some kind of ice pack something instead of the ice machine. I wish they could take it case by case on if you can pay. But then again, everyone going in for surgery is in the same boat. It's great to hear Mike sleeping for that long. I've been reading "war-stories" on the non-sleepers here. I normally take two Ambien nightly anyway for my back/hip injury. Our new kitty Halo will throw the 2nd wrench into my sleeping pattern. I've finished my "honey-do" list and now am just waiting. See you guys on the other side...Ron
