Hello again everyone,

I wrote my first post the night before my surgery and for whatever reason, maybe its all these crazy drugs, i could not remember/find my username/password to post again today!

To make a long story short I had to sign up again with a new signon but this is Lauren who wrote in a few days ago.

Anyways, just giving an update since the big day and i also wanted to relay some things i have learned on my journey to one-armed living!

I was so nervous and anxious about the surgery but it ended up being a breeze in the big picture of this whole shoulder escapade.  I was in, out, and back home recouping in just half a day.

My surgeon actually gave me a dvd with my surgery on it!  I was so excited to wtch it and see first hand what my very own labrum and shoulder joint look like through those tiny cameras! Maybe i will be able to post part of the surgery on here somewhere?

Hello all!

My name is Lauren and I am having my surgery tomorrow morning bright and early (I sure hope the doc has enough time to get his Starbucks if needed!).  I feel like I have been waiting forever to have this surgery, but it has really only been 6 months since my injury. I am a tennis player and had been having pain in my shoulder for many months but it was not until I played this one match that it got progressively worse.  I woke up the next day and realized that any overhead motion at all was really tough (getting dressed, washing my hair, etc).

Anyways, that is my story in a nutshell.  I am happy to get this surgery over with and finally start that road to recovery...which I must say seems much longer and tougher than I was first anticipating.  This site has been so helfpful and informative for me.  I have been trying to research as much as I can before the big day and am so glad to have found this site.  How else could I learn what it is going to be like than from dozens of people who are going through the same thing?
