Was scheduled to see my doc this week but appt was postponed until next week.

At 5 weeks post op, I feel very positive and really good.  I'm only wearing the sling/pillow to sleep at night, because quite frankly my shoulder feels better not in the sling.  I'm dutifully mindful of what I'm doing with the arm, keeping it protected when need be.

Although surgery was performed on my dominant arm, I'm surprised at just how much I can do with it.  Other than lifting the arm towards the shoulder or back, it has some good movement.  At the end of the day's work (I'm an administrative assistant), the bicep muscle is sore.  The feeling is like a muscle cramp rather than a soreness from overworking it.  Nothing ibuprofen and a little icing doesn't relieve.

I've tried laying down without the sling.  Hm, wonder how everyone deals with that, as it's very uncomfortable.  It will be nice not having that contraption strapped around my body, I have to admit.  I'll deal with sleeping issues as they come along.

I'm really ready to begin PT.  I know what to expect (thanks to this board) but I'm so ready for the challenge.  I will do whatever is necessary to get this shoulder in a healthy state again.

One day at a time.

Continued good health and happy healing to all.
