my name is joe and i'm scheduled to have surgery this wednesday. i've been dealing with a labrum tear since last mid oct now, and i'm beginning to have some reservations about it now.
it all started last october when i was working out. i was doing overhead dumbbell shoulder presses. i was on my 3rd set and i was beginning to tire out. unfortunately, i let my form go due to lack of focus because of the fatigue. my right arm bent backwards and thats when i felt the pain. i kept lifting through november and would notice that i felt weakness and pain in my right shoulder. i couldn't produce any power with my right shoulder. in the meanwhile, i kept playing volleyball as well. i coach volleyball as a part time gig. well i survived my volleyball season by altering my hitting form so that it wouldn't bother me as much. i went to an orthopedist in march and was sent to phyiscal therapy. physical therapy helped to strengthen my surrounding muscles but i could still feel that my right shoulder was weak. i had an arthrogram done on my right shoulder and it showed that i had a medium sized tear of my labrum. my orthopedist suggested that i could live with this tear but if i wanted to live an active lifestyle, then it would be best for have the surgery done. so thats where i am currently. my biggest concern isn't so much the procedure itself, but the rehab and learning to live with one arm for 1 month. joe Discuss this article on the forums.
