Muscles Worked: Some doctors recommend this exercise following shoulder surgery. Some don't. Definately check with your doctor before performing this exercise. The goal is to keep the shoulder moving and prevent frozen shoulder syndrome.

Equipment: None.

Starting Position:

  • Stand next to a table or waist high surface.
  • Place one hand on the table for support and lean forward slightly so that your other arm is hanging freely.

Motion:

  • Very slowly and with minimal effort swing your arm front to back about a foot, six inches in each direction about 10 times.
  • Swing your arm from side to side about 10 times over a range of a foot.
  • Finally swing your arm in circle, both clockwise and counterclockwise.
