Muscles Worked: This exercise emphasizes the upper back muscles as they connect to the shoulder. These muscles are the latissimus dorsi, the teres major and the posterior deltoid (shoulder). Equipment: TheraBand or similar rehabilitation band/cord. Starting Position: - Attach a theraband to a hook or doorknob by tying a loop in the middle so that there are two ends free.
- Extend your arms and grasp an end of the band in each hand.
- Maintain an upright posture throughout the exercise.
Motion: - Keep your elbows in and pull your hands towards your body to a point below your rib cage but above your belly button.
- Your palms should be facing upwards.
- Focus on squeezing your shoulder blades in and down.
