2008-02-02 09:34:46 Hi Guys, So far I think Iv'e kind of screwed this up. Anyway, My name is Leigh, I am a 4o? R.N. from the Greenville S.C. area. I have actually been reading this forum/ web page since the beginning of my post-op period , now approx. 6 wks. I had repair and acromium decompression. I do not recall actually injuring my shoulder. Just kind of a gradual thing over about a year or so. I tried P.T. for about 6 monthes with no relief. I had an MRI which did not reveal tear, but I dont think thats really unusual.I almost think they're worthless in diagnosing SLAP tears unless they inject contrast. Anyway , I went into surgery really thinking I was just having the collarbone debrided, spurs removed, and after about a 3 hour surgery , came out with a little more than I bargained for. Well it has been a rollercoaster ride. I am now , as I said about 6 wks. out and continue to have moderate amt. of pain, difficulty sleeping. I am still having to take pain meds some. My Ortho. put me on home rehab. program, which I faithfully do.I often wonder if Iv'e broke something loose. I'm just not a real patient person. I'm anxious to go back to work but really need both arms functioning well for what I do. Anyway,Thanks for all your experiences you have shared. It has really helped me along the way!
