Well, I scheduled my surgery for April 4 which is just after a couple things I wanted to get out of the way before getting into the sling like a long road trip we had planned and finish up my volleyball league. The doctor tells me I will likely be out of volleyball for about 4-6 months, so I guess I'm going to miss summer volleyball this year. But, I'm excited to at some point in the next year or so to be able to hit the ball without major pain.
I'm excited to get my shoulder fixed but I'm a little nervous about the recovery period since I have heard a lot of horror stories. My doctor assures me that I am a good candidate for a quick recovery but he won't commit to a timeline until after surgery. So at this point, he's giving me timelines like missing 3days to up to 2 weeks of work, 2-6 weeks in a sling, 2-6 months of PT and 3-12 months before playing volleyball at full copasity. So, the longer times have me a bit freaked out, but at least I won't be caught off guard if that really happens. |
