Getting ready for the adventure...

I came upon this site from a "Shoulder SLAP" google search and have found it to be a great source of information. I'm amazed at the different accounts and recovery times and am very pleased to have seen the 10 tips entry.  It really seems to snap you into thinking about one-armed day to day functionality.

I will keep reading through the entries and will probably add comments as I get closer to the procedure.  I have been diagnosed with a SLAP tear and clavicle impingement from a fall that separated my right shoulder about 5 years ago. I had no idea of the amount of recovery time that this procedure requires, but feel that it would be worth the effort to regain the full use of my shoulder again. Right now I can live with the pain level, but the shoulder feels unstable, limited upward motion (swimming is no longer possible, since about 6 months), and about a third of my original strength.  Lots of popping and grinding with low level aches after activity.  I started wind surfing last year and it's breaking my heart to be doing this at the start of summer.  Surgery target is early June.

Glad to be able to share with the fellowship
