Last Wednesday I went to the OS and got my 3rd shot of cortisone since August 07...5 days later what a relief.
My OS said that he is injecting into the impingement area rather than the SLAP tear because that is the source of inflamation and immediate pain. I mentioned this web site comparing it to NPR radio - it's great source of information but only in moderation (to much site time and you become totally focused on the injury). He agreed and said that every injury is a little different, you can have 3 people in PT after the same procedure with completely different results, pain, and healing times - so you have to keep an open mind. I asked about my own recovery time estimate - and he said that he won't know until the shoulder is opened up because my fall may have done other damage not shown by the MRI. I'm hoping that I can hold off until Thanksgiving for the surgery - last week before the shot I had my doubts - today is different story. Had a good morning workout almost no pain. |
