Happy Thanksgiving to ALL So here's some backround to start. I am 17 years old with a SLAP tear and I am having surgery to repair it next thursday. I am a compeititve level 10 gymnast since i've been 11, but I have been in the sport my entire life. My right shoulder has always been a sore spot then about a month ago, i noticed it hurt significantly worse and to the touch, which concerned me. I went to the doctor and had an MRI the same day. i was then diagnosed with a tear and told to go to physical therapy, which i know is supposed to help, but it only got worse and more painful..( I was also still training, I had to visit a college and train with their team, with the tear and act like i had no pain...ouch!). My shoulder had gotten signifantly worse and was waking me up in the middle of the night, and it was affecting my daily activities. I went a new doctor in Manhasett, NY, Doctor Scaglione. He did a great job of explaining what will happen, but i still have some remaining questions. He also told me I will be getting a block and generla anestisia, ( I've never had surgery or any form of anestisia), and I would be confined to a sling for the first 4 weeks, then after 4 months I will be cleared, and then about another 2 more months until I can start training again.....So here are my questions..... 1)What is a block, an what is anestisia like? 2) Will i be able to drive after..not right away, but within the week 3)Will I need a wedge or anything for my bed, to sleep? 4)
