Well things are certainly better since last weeks update. I’m definitely not in as foul a mood. I would say that across the board things are looking up.

Physical therapy is going well. My therapists are starting to ramp things up a bit again after slowing due to my increased pain. They have me performing repetitions on a finger ladder. This is cool because it’s as close to climbing as I’m going to get for a while! The finger ladder is a vertical piece of wood, mounted to the wall, which has a series of holds. The idea is to “walk” the bad arm up the wall.

I am stretching at home at about 75% effort. I still get some crunching feelings but the location has changed. It seems that the feelings are coming from the rear of the shoulder. I’m not worried as it isn’t painful. The therapists say that it is most likely that as I push the limits, certain muscles aren’t comfortable and firing correctly. This would allow the top of the humerus to move around.

My useable range of motion is much better than it was. I find myself absent-mindedly reaching for objects. I type a little bit with my “bad” arm as well. I am still being very careful to avoid load-bearing activities, until the doc gives me the okay.

I’m actually getting a bit of sleep. My increased range of motion allows for more comfortable positions and longer periods between waking up. I think this has helped my mood more than anything.

Speaking of sleep, I think it’s time to call it for today. I had some great conversations with my physical therapists about avoiding frozen shoulder and other things. I’ll try to get those posted later this week.
