Wow how far did you fall? Did you land on cement? What were you doing?

My worst fear with this whole surgery is that I won't wake up from Anesthesia. Never ever having GA, I'm not really sure what to expect. That is really the only thing that has me really scared. Other than that, I'm sure my repair will be a success. My PT says my OS is very good, even though he never smiles.

I work at an insurance company and do mostly Worker's Comp claims and have seen a lot of shoulder surgery and most of them are successful, so that is very encouraging reading those claims.

I think maybe my tear might be dengenertive, I am 54 and with a bone spur, and now my right shoulder is starting to feel funny, not really achy or painful, just feels like something is out of joint or not sitting right. I have full ROM but it makes a lot of cracking and popping noises when I swing my are around. Maybe it is just over used. Maybe it's sympathy pains?

I had taken my horses and a friend to a park to go riding. I had the horse tied to the trailer, and was talking to my friend with my back to the horse. Something spooked him, he spun around (all 1,000 pounds of him), whalloped me in the back, and I went flying through the air and landed on my elbow about 10 feet away, on asphalt. It completely tore the supraspinatus and part of the infraspinatus, damaged the humeral head and some damage to the labrum.

The docs at the first place I went to completely missed it, said I was just a middle aged woman and it was degenerative. These types of injuries need to be repaired in 3-4 weeks- I didn't get the first surgery for 4 months while they dithered around and refused to even order a MRI.

You will be OK - the anesthesia is different than years ago, and you shouldn't get nauseated. They usually do an interscalene block as well, which is done after you've been sedated a bit. That way, you don't wake up in pain and have a chance to get pain meds in before the block wears off.

I was always afraid my "addiction" to horses would get me in trouble some day, but never dreamed it would be irreparable. I know people who've broken their backs and they are fine now.

I'm all set, I asked if I could get a prescription to have it at my home b/4 surgery. My OS was nice enough to do this for me. 50 tabs of 5 mg each of Oxycodone 1 or 2 every 3 hours. Come to think of it , 50 isn't very much. Well I guess that is about 5 days worth. Hopefully that will be all I need.

If not, they will give you more at first. You may not need so much. Looking forward to hearing how you are in a couple days = we will be thinking of you!
