Hi all,
I'm now 6 weeks post SLAP repair and SAD but my shoulder feels no better than before I had the surgery and its really getting me down - now long does the pain remain after surgery?
I've previously posted a few issues I've had with the pro-active PT my surgeon recommended, at my last PT session I was cleared to start assisting my arm to go over 90degrees and my ROM has improved - with assistance from my good arm I can take the recovering arm out in front and raise it almost back as far as my ear. I've got good assisted movement raising to the side as well.
BUT I'm still getting a constant deep painful ache in my shoulder and now getting increased pain in my deltoid - this part of my arm is very tender to touch. Combine this with the pins and needles in my elbow and hand (PT says I have a trapped nerve at C2?) and inability to sleep means I'm feeling pretty low. I'm due back to work next week and really worried that this is only going to add to the pain (my job is desk bound but my operation was on my dominant arm so I'll be using it through the day for writing and typing).
Is there light at the end of the tunnel? This weekend marks the 2nd anniversary of my car accident which means I've had 2 years of constant arm and shoulder pain - I know there are some of you on this forum who have been suffering for much longer but I had really hoped this surgery was going to get rid of my pain not add to it...............Am I expecting too much too soon or should I be worried that the pain isn't going away?
