Glad to hear the surgery went well!! Don't worry about damaging anything in your shoulder by moving it,unless you're planning on throwing yourself down a flight of stairs or something. I had a capsular release, bursectomy, subacromial decompression this past saturday and have been making sure to move it as much as possible to avoid any stiffness. They also had to stick me twice to get the IV in, couldn't get it in my hand, so had to call the IV team to try and they got it in my forearm...have quite the bruises from it. One of my incisions on the side of my shoulder also keloided after my last decompression in 2007, only one for some reason and it was like that up until my surgery in november and then for some reason, when they damaged my axillary nerve and that skin around it went numb, the keloid went away and it's now almost like a hole like all the others. My stitches come out next monday, the 25th...can't wait, they keep poking me lol.

Happy birthday, enjoy the day, the norco and the ice machine...I'm hooked up to my cryocuff as we speak.

Good to hear you came through just fine. That scarring business is the necessary evil of these surgeries. surgery=scar. I am on very restricted movement for 6 weeks - just pendulums and passive movement twice a day. But NO stitches again!. This scar is even longer than the last replacement - about 6 inches. They used that clear glue on it. My PT ended up picking it off last week because there was still scab underneath. But for as long as ugly as it is, for a scar they did a very neat job.

Thanks for the birthday wish Leanne! Needless to say I had a pretty low-key birthday. The greatest gift was taking off the dressing and being able to shower. It's the little things in life haha. While I was inspecting my shoulder and the incisions I noticed the posterior incision opened up (that was the one he fixed, which started to keloid). The stitch is still there, but I put a butterfly bandaid on it. Don't want to risk infection since it was bleeding/oozing (gross i know). I wonder since it was the keloid one, if that had anything to do with it opening. Apparently my OS didn't use the same incision as last time, since I have another incision next to my first anterior portal scar.

Well it's been 6 days since surgery and today was one of the more painful days. I'm still taking the Norco at night and during the middle of the night. The pain seems worse when I try to sleep. Thank goodness I'm on summer break and took some time off work so I can catch up on sleep during the day. Compared to 6 days after the bicep tenodesis surgery (6 mos ago) and this surgery, my range of motion is much better, but I am not even close to where I was pre-surgery. I see my OS for a follow up on July 3rd. He said "knowing me, I'll need physical therapy" so i'm starting to get antsy about that. I want to start now that way I don't have this problem of scar tissue building up again. Even though my OS said I can be my own therapist and do the exercises myself since I know them, it's just not the same. It helps to have someone else, someone trained moving my arm through the motions. It gives me that extra push.
