Excuse my for my somewhat naive query, but I have no medical background. I have developed a nasty case of biceps tendonitis after my first surgery (SLAP-I) in my Rt. shoulder. As a first line of treatment, I am going thru PT, steroid injections and so on. This is going on for last 1.5 years now. Meanwhile, I am noticing that I now have Rt.Knee issue, and also Lt.Shoulder is now having moderate biceps tendonitis as well. I was wondering whether tendonitis can 'spread' in the body. My reasoning is that when the original tendon undergoes an inflammatory response, the body is also causing unnecessary responses in the other joints. I asked this question to my OS and he laughed at me. However, I am scared and worried that I may end up in more problems, while waiting for a possible tenodesis surgery to the original (Rt. Shoulder).

Any similar experiences and/or comments are appreciated.

I don't know about "spreading" and I am not any kind of medical person. But I can see aggravating the other arm by over-use, and even the knees by doing things out of the ordinary with the shoulder. My therapist will not allow me to go anywhere near pain - as soon as even get near it, I am to stop. NOw that I think about it, with your comments, what is the point of pushing past the point of pain after shoulder surgery? How does one know whether they are causing more damage rather than gently stretching or gently moving to avoid adhesions?

I think about the injuries and tendon/muscle problems horses have had - if I would have done to them what people do to themselves, I'd be arrested for cruelty to animals. Maybe it's a "man" thing (lol - no offense, most orthopods ARE men!)
