These are all the tips and ideas I had in planning for after surgery, some were great others well no so:

-Get a back scratcher-youll be surprised at how many places you cant reach
-If you have long hair get a head band, teach your sig-other how to do a pony tail
-Shave legs, underarms etc day of surgery, get a wax if you have too, buy electric razor
-Have pen and paper by your meds, its amazing how fogged your brain is and how youll forget what times you took pills
-if you can, time your meds so you can take a dose at bedtime, that way your not waking up a few hours after falling asleep from pain
-get someone to pre-crack your ice cube trays, loosen lids, etc
-get granola bars
clothing- buy tank tops, tube tops, tank dresses, that way you only have to put in one arm
get yoga shorts or pants, sweats: so much easier to get on and off
-I had my bf take off strips of toilet paper and had big pile daily, sounds stupid but its very hard to manage one armed, in pain n drugged, he even did my toothpaste first few days
to wash your hair, i lean back over tub, while sitting on floor, someone else washes my hair

Avoid leaning forward, this is the worst position for me

If your like me and complete immbolization, buy paper plates, etc less dishes for others

I have been able to sleep lying down, pillows for support

Ask if a sling called Donjoy-ultrasling III is a good option, i have it and its been great

Thats all i can remember right now.

Good luck to everyone

Don't forget the flip top shampoo and toothpaste.

I got my xrays and xray report from last week. I am very bummed - even though *3* doctors would not say anything, the report says the humeral head is "riding high." That is why I went through this fifth surgery - and now it is the SAME as before. All for nothing. I am stunned.

Yes and anything else you can get flip top or pump.

I'm sorry to hear your news. What are they going to do about it?

I don't know. I see the OS in 3 weeks. the only options he was talking about before were to do nothing, or get a reverse replacement. But I can't go through another surgery like that now. I was hoping we wouldn't have to go there again, or so soon. It will be another small fortune - but we'll drive (12 hr drive) so save a little. Going to made it somewhat fun by taking some vacation days.
