I know everyone is different both in terms of the pain they experience and their tolerance for pain. I was just curious how far along you are and a description of your pain.

I am 4 weeks out after an open surgery, latarjet. I feel a constant tugging around the incision and it sometimes goes down towards the elbow. Sometimes it stings. If I had to rate the pain now I'd say it's 2 to 3, but after PT (not immediately afterwards), it can hit a 4. I am able to use the mouse but moving in that direction hurts as well.

Just curious about how others are doing.

i'm only 2 weeks out and i still experience pain, not bad enough for pain pills though, i have been using 500mg of extra strength tylenol, i think mine is more of a stiffness kind of pain, mine ranges anywhere from a 4 to a 10, only a 10 when i walk to fast and the pain shoots up (but it only lasts a few seconds.

I feel the stiffness too. It's so tight. Good session at PT today. Pain is probably closer to a 4 now.

Having been through pain management and 3 years of this, I would never describe my pain as a 10 on a scale of 1-10. 10 is unbearable agony - like major burns or terminal cancer. Everyone experiences pain differently. There are different scales out there to describe what you are feeling. I know I tend to downplay my pain, which drives my husband nuts as he has had to deal with me.

that feeling you get down towards the elbow, is from the conjoined tendon attached to the coracoid that was grafted to the glenoid...I feel it all the time. Keep the shoulder moving as much as possible to keep it from scarring down to the subscap where it comes through that muscle...at this point now, that graft is still healing, tissues resettling...that goes away for most who have the latarjet.

my pain varies, I have several different pains that I get depending what I'm doing...from general ache, to referred cuff pain, to bone pain, to nerve pain, but generally I would say my pain level is at a 6
