I have had both tenotomy and tenodesis on my left shoulder. The tenotomy did not really relieve or change any of my symptoms or pain levels....just provided me with a nice little popeye on my left arm. It still has some cramping of that muscle when it shifts around in there....like today....lol.... So the OS did a tenodesis a year later and repaired RC. The RC was a partial tear, but had gotten worse and was almost a complete tear at the time of surgery. So my recovery time was elongated because of multiple procedures. As far as time off work, after the tenotomy, went back to work 4 weeks later. After the tenodesis and RC repair, went back to work 12 weeks later. I am a special ed. teacher and some of my students need physical assistance at time. I am not really able to provide that assistance anyway, however. I have a definite loss of strength - don't know if is the tenotomy or just multiple surgeries.

Good luck on the 17th and I hope you have a speedy recovery....take care,

      Jo

I just did a post on this. The cramping was worse with the tenotomy then the pain I had from the tenodesis . I didn't think the tenodesis was a painful recovery.
