I am about 4 months post-op of a laral tear and a capsulary shift. My question to all of you is when is the right time to get back into the activity that caused the shoulder injury? And How do you do it? Thank you in advance for yout thoughts.

      Ski Fast,

It depends on what it is. For example, I rock climb and I was not cleared to climb until 1 year post op. But throwing injuries can come back a lot sooner.

      What was the cause?

I was doing good with recovery and able to do daily activities comfortably and then I strained my shoulder. And I thought that I was being careful! Any one else re-injure themselves when they were almost healed? It is not easy to go backwards during recovery.

I think for most everyone recovery has its ups and downs, it's rarely a straight path to success.. I had a couple of weeks recently where my shoulder stabilizers and biceps started hurting more most likely due to the increased load, closer to what they'd felt at 2 months post-op. But eventually that got better again and now 6.5 months out it's definitely feeling the best it has in years even though it's not quite there yet. Just take it easy when you hit the lows, and it'll get better again although yeah it's hard.
