These are very helpful - thank you! I will have to rethink everything since I've never been a stretcher-yoga-pilates kind of gal. Looks like that's what needs to happen however, to stregnthen and stretch and suppport all my body joints since they are globally unstable. Jennifer
It's been almost a year now since I posted - the groin pain has worsened beyond belief and sitting has become intolerable.
An arthrogram MRI last week revealed now TWO acetabular tears in each hip. I line up with the FAI (impingement) symptoms too, though not sure if a labral tear alone also gives those symptoms. I'm seeing two hip surgeons for further evaluation and have almost accepted the fact I will undergo surgery to repair the labrums.
Any input on hip labral/FAI surgery most appreciated.
On Christmas eve 2010 I heard a loud POP w/subsequent pain in the shoulder I had SLAP/HAGL/Plication repair done in April 2009; my surgeon suspects a retear or the suture popped. I was simply lifting a shirt to put it on though the previous night I'd been propped up on that shoulder for a long time, putting a lot of pressure (unknown to me) on that bicep. I am 48.
I am 9 months out from this surgery.
I had FAI/Labral tear in right hip. I had Cam Impingement and had my labral tear debridement no repair. Its a tough surgery.
Find a good surgeon even if you have to travel there are not
many doing this surgey well.
There is a fai yahoo group with lots of good stuff for fai.
The top docs is Marc Philippon is Vail, CO.
He will make you stay in Vail 1 week min and maybee 2 weeks now.
He does no debridement only repair and if your labrum is gone he will graft one from your it band.
