Some great ideas and yes a PT would be best but you want to rule out the L word, if you are hypermobile you only want to stretch muscles not ligaments and labrums. Best to wait and see what the MRI shows and listen to the body.

MRI Results: torn labrums in both hips.

I'll pick up the MRI/report tomorrow for more specifics but immediately called my PT who rehabbed my SLAP II/HAGL/Plication so well; she said to try to avoid surgery at all costs w/PT.

      Feedback anyone?

      I can't believe this.

Not sure how you had MRI in both hips but WOW. I did suspect from your description but was hoping not. Your PT is absolutely right, do not go for the surgery and focus on rehab. Stay out of the irritating positions. I believe labral hip tears are much easier when it comes to avoiding surgeries than shoulders so don't stress as I am sure the mind is going a bit crazy with this news. Sharon

Sorry to hear of the labral tears, but i agree that you should avoid surgery with this sort of thing. like sharon said, avoid aggravating positions and start a rehab program to stretch out the hip flexors and strengthen those smaller stabilizers around the hip (ie. Gluteus med, psoas, piriformis, etc). Just like you have to strengthen the rotator cuff around the shoulder to allow proper joint mechanics, same goes for the hip to avoid impingement, etc. I'm sure you would be able to do most of the rehab self directed once you get technique down and such. Therabands are great for strengthening.

Thanks Sharon and Leanne! So appreciate your input! I will do PT instead of surgery and hope for the best. Thanks again, Jennifer
